Can an employer refuse pay to an employee who quit their job after they worked/trained for only 2 days? No contract was signed.

    NO! Most states are at will states, which mean that at will an employer can fire you for no reason, and you can quit for no reason. Contact your Department of Labor for your state, and let them know they are withholding your check. It may benefit you to let them know you are going to do this, if you do not get your check within the time frame according to your state laws. My guess is they will pay up.

    NO, after I gave my answer. I checked into it a little more and it is definitely illegal.

    According to the U.S. Dept. of Labor, employers must pay employees their final check as of the next regularly scheuled payday. It is illegal for an employer to refuse pay for work done. It does not matter whether the employee quit or was fired. Depending on your state laws however, the employer may not have to pay immediately, but you should never have to wait beyond the next scheduled payday.
