Yes for 2 reasons. 1 incase there is a problem with the download and 2 incase you have to reinstall windows.

The CD is important so I would say yes make sure to get one. I always get the CD for an "expensive" program.

I don't bother to buy the CD if I can download the software, but I do make multiple copies of all of the software I purchase. Any software that you download should be copied to CD and stored somewhere safe. I make copies of the installation kits of all of my software on hard disk, using one at home and a second at work (two backups in two locations for security). You may want to use an external disk drive for this purpose, unplugging it and storing it somewhere safe when it is not in use.
