Can I get a Windows Vista Home Basic DVD? I have a laptop with the authentic key code attached, but the DVD is missing and I have to reinstall. Where can I loan one or purchase just a copy without the expensive license?

I hate to say this, but you can't get a deal on a copy of Windows Vista just because you have a license key. You need that DVD.... was it missing from the laptop packaging? If so, demand a replacement. Also, don't bother trying to use the key you have on a different edition of Vista - it likely will not work, as the versions of Vista that are bundled with laptops are not exactly the same as retail versions and typically do not use the same family of key. If getting the original isn't possible, you're stuck buying a new copy, license and all.

If you are serious about wanting Vista (how anyone could be is beyond me), search for a torrent. If your computer isn't working at all, ask someone to do it for you. This is, however, completely illegal. But so is Micro$oft, so why not?
