  • Yes we do it's euthanasia.
  • My own opinion, I think we are better to our animals by putting them down, than letting them suffer. I would rather be put to sleep for ever than suffer with Alsheimers *spelling* or brain dead in a bed for ever. Just my opinion tho.
  • Because there is a psychological barrier to killing humans that doesn't exist for pets. In the Netherlands euthanasia (putting humans to sleep) is practiced,
  • I put my beloved cat to sleep because is was kinder than making her live with the pain just to keep her here for me. I had her with me for 16 wonderful years and I loved every bit of them! I miss my sweetbaby very much but will never feel bad about putting her to sleep. That is one reason why we put animals to sleep. I would never put a person to sleep, but I can understand completely if someone was so sick that they don't want to put up pain anymore.
  • Some terminally ill people would like to be put to sleep, but they can't in the US because it is illegal.
  • There are several reasons. Here are a few, as unpopular as they may be. 1. Human life is more valuable. 2. Some animals are unwanted, a very sad fact, but a fact nonetheless. Euthanasia is more compassionate than starvation. 3. Animals are not as smart as people. If a human breaks a leg they can conceive the idea that they must not use it or put weight on it for a certain length of time so that it may heal. A horse cannot understand this concept and will attempt to use the broken leg causing further damage, infection and a horrible death. 4. If we did not control the population of stray animals, particularly dogs and cats the problem expounds exponentially in short period of time. Disease and starvation would become the norm. Now for my soapbox- Have your animals spayed or neutered if they are not to be used for breeding purposes! This is the best way to avoid the sad necessity of euthanasia.
