  • It's not about you as much as it's about them. You could just as easily not had much appreciation for them. Remember, from the voice of experience, you don't just marry the person . . . you marry their family too! Hopefully, they don't live close. Just stay nice to them.
  • Go out of your way to be respectful. Call them Mr. and Mrs. LastName, use good posture, make eye contact, seem interested in what they have to say, etc. Whenever my friends do that, my parents usually tell me how polite my friends are once my friends are gone.
  • Just be yourself, don't try and be someone that you are not. I am sure you are respectful to others you meet, and if you try to hard, it will show. Ask if they need any help, making dinner, offer to cook, or clean up afterwards. You cannot make anyone care for you, or like you. I am sure everything will work out in the end. Ask them if you could take them to a shopping center, and look around, get a feel for what they like to do, buy them a cup of coffee, sit down and try to learn what their interests are, make some suggestions, about things that YOU like to do. You might have more in common, that you realize. Have a Very Merry Christmas.
