WE TOW AN S-10 TRUCK ON A TOW DOLLY (NOT A TOW BAR) BEHIND AN RV. WE DISCONNECT THE DRIVE SHAFT TO DO THIS. RECENTLY WE WERE TOLD WE DIDN'T NEED TO DISCONNECT THE DRIVE SHAFT, BUT WE WOULD LIKE TO BE SURE THIS ISN'T BAD INFORMATION. CAN SOMEONE CONFIRM?

    Consult your owner's manual. There should be a section on dingy/dolly towing. Some automatic and some manual transmissions can be towed in neutral. It depends on the transmission oiling system.

    One thing that you should consider, if it's a 2 wheel drive, is backing your truck on the dolly. You must take special precautions since the front wheels must be locked straight with more than just the steering column key lock. Some bracketry or specialty straps may need to be purchased or fabricated to accompolish a secure locking. Just don't forget to disconnect it when you drive it off!
