  • Probably by selling it in online auctions because there are more people there. Also you can just do both say, Tell people in your garage sale that your selling this item in an internet auction and if they want it ,compare their prices with auction prices.Tip:tell people your highest bidder and how much he/she is giving so they can raise their bid.
  • If I was selling regular household items that weren't really noteworthy or complete sets, etc., I would probably sell them at a garage/yard sale or flea market. With the time you spend having to advertise your products individually, shipping costs (if you pay them), possible costs to advertise them online, etc. I'm not sure that it is worth it to do online. I rented a space at a flea market twice near our home for $10 for the day and sold regular household items, many of them brand new, and made over $600 in that one day. I have also sold items on EBay and loved it, but wouldn't have considered it for the volume of items that I had for sale. A lot may depend on the area in which you live, whether affluent or not, and how popular garage sales are near you, and the quality of your items. I wish you luck and fortune.
  • The amount you sell something for depends on who is looking for that item this week and how many people see the ad. I have monitored some items on eBay to see how much they cost, in general terms, and have seen a tremendous variation in prices, as well as items that simply do not sell the first time around. Garage sales have no overhead, but can require a fair bit of personal time. There are alternatives to both of these, however. In addition to online auction sites, such as eBay, there are many sites where an individual can post items for sale without having to pay a fee of any kind. These are usually funded through the sale of advertising space. I have used these services where I live, Kijiji Ottawa and UsedOttawa, and have had good luck finding and, for the most part, selling items. A list of the Kijiji sites can be found at http://www.kijiji.com/ . Kijiji does not appear to have any sites in the US, but are present in many other countries. UsedOttawa is part of the UsedCanada network and a list of their sites can be found at http://UsedCanada.com/ . A fairly extensive network of sites in the US and elsewhere can be found through Craig's List at http://www.craigslist.org/ . They don't seem to list the same selection of goods as other sites, but that might just be an issue with the one operating where I live. There are also a number of barter sites that run on DoBarter software. DoBarter provides a list of barter sites at http://dobarter.com/ . I am sure that there is at least one used-goods site where you live or nearby that does not charge a fee - there are so many of them around. If not, there is almost certainly a FreeCycle site (http://freecycle.org/). FreeCycle does not allow people to sell or buy goods, but is used by individuals to recycle and reuse goods they no longer use and are willing to give away. Instead of leaving something at the curb for the trash, it might just be worth FreeCycling so that someone else can use it.
