Help answer this question below.
While it's not correct on the tonal scale, I think it's random. Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do!
I think its just random and it sounds nice.
It's a very ancient Welsh song handed down orally for centuries before it was written down, by which time the scribe who first put it on paper had forgotten what the words were. Either that or he didn't understand Welsh well enough to translate that part.
I guess they didnt know what words to put in so they had to say something.
it is justg random.
It's just fun to do...!
It is a cheap way of simulating the playing of a harp:
""Deck the Halls" is a traditional Yuletide and New Years' carol. The "fa-la-la" refrains were probably originally played on the harp."
"The English words generally sung today are American in origin and date from the 19th century, but the original lyrics are Welsh."

The line is "Fa la la la la, *fa* la la la." in English and "*Ffa* la la la la, fa la la la." in Welsh.

I think it's a lyrical take on "folly" but that's just a guess.

You're reading In the Xmas carol, Deck the Halls, what does the "fa la la la la la, la la la la," mean? Is it just a random line?
