Last June I had a back molar pulled, and I was in pain and all scraped up FOREVER. If your dentist/oral surgeon gave you some kind of oral rinse, use that. You can also rinse out your mouth with salt water (by that I mean add a bit of table salt to a glass of water.) If the pain is really bugs you, I recommend you get some Ambesol(pain reliever for the mouth, available at drug stores, etc) and rub it in on the area in addition to taking pain meds Another weird after effect of the tooth pulling was that for about 2 months afterward, tiny shards of the former tooth would come through my gums. My Oral Surgeon said that b/c to remove the tooth they often have to shatter it, this is normal. Sure was irritating, though!

Warm saltwater rinse gently twice a day. Slimfast thru a straw. Let pain be your guide. (dont chew anything that hurts) Fever or throbbing: back to the dentist!
