Freeze them until you get there and then thaw them out and things should be just fine after that. I'm just kidding. I guess keeping them in a relatively large cage that allows them to move and having water and food nearby is the only thing I can think of. I guess they got rest stops for them too.

I used to drive long haul truck with my cat, and she was pretty good in the cab. I'd try leaving them free in the vehicle they seem to be much calmer than when they are in a cage. I think they get car sick as well inside a cage and do better with fresh ir and can see out of the vehicle.

If they're not used to riding in cars (my cats aren't), consider asking your vet for a light kitty sedative. (Do NOT use any form of human medication.) If the cats are calmer, you'll drive more safely! Unhappy cats in cars YOWL, and they have been known to do it for hours on end. Not good for them, not good for their humans.
