  • When a percentage or proof measurement is used on a bottle label it means that the contents of the bottle are (eg) 40% or 100 proof alcohol (it also therefore means 40% of what you pour yourself is alcohol). What you absorb is totally different and cannot be labeled on a bottle due to differences in individuals.
  • It means that the contents of the bottle are that percent of alcohol. So, if you separated out all the ingredients, that percent would be pure alcohol and the rest would be other things.
