  • The engine may be broken.
  • A lot of times it can be as simple as an O2 sensor, or it can be way more complex.
  • Could be many things. If it isn't flashing at you, then it's unlikely the engine is broken. Typically the check engine light is associated with emissions. (This is when it comes on and stays on). Did you recently add a tank of gas? If so, then that can cause it if you didn't twist the nob just right. My experience with Hondas has been that it's the O2 sensor. But with your car being a newer model (i.e. the O2 sensor should still be fine), I'd lean toward the gas cap. I also had a co-worker who indicated hers came on after driving through a big puddle (she has a Cavalier) and that it went off by itself. Generally emissions - did you travel into high country? That can make the car run rich so the panel will pick up the ratio.
  • go to autozone, they will tell you.
