Howard Stern Has Brought Over 2 Million Subscribers To Sirius In Just 2 Years.Figure 13 Dollars A Month per Customer With Just 1 Radio,I have 4 myself so If you multiply that it comes to Around 312 Million a year plus The Millions In Advertising.I Think It's Safe To Say That
Sirius Made A Smart Investment For Howard And Themselves.
I Forgot The Sales Of Equipment And Online Listening
Charges So Add More Millions To The Mix.

Sirius stock is DOWN over 40% for the past year, and XM is DOWN over 60% for the same time period.

Howard Stern is successful with his $500M deal - but as everyone should know, success in the capital world is defined as shareholder value or stock appreciation.

    Successful? Doesn't appear so.

I must respectfully disagree with the answer provided by nmshooter. That answer stated ""From a money standpoint of what Sirius paid for Howard in hopes of new subscribers, its been a failure." I did the math for an answer I provided to another question regarding Hoaward Stern's compensation, and Sirius stands to gross at least $1.7 BILLION over the next five years. That figure is based upon very conservative estimates of the new subscribers that Howard has brought to Sirius. His compensation of $500 million in that same five year period works out to less than 1/3 of that $1.1 billion. As to the number of subscribers, Sirius went from a subscriber base of 600,000 at the beginning of 2005 to 4,000,000 at the end of March 2006. That is a gain of 3.6 million subscribers in 15 months. Satellite radio is a very limited market, with just one comparable business (XM Radio). If you compare Sirius' figures to XM's, Sirius has just completed an EXTREMELY good quarter. Not bad, since Howard had only been available on the media for two and one-half months at that point.

Based upon the numbers, and Howard's new freedom to run the show the way he wants, I am replying with a resounding: Yes! Howard Stern's Sirius show has been a success, by any definition of success!

Depends on your definition of success. From a money stand point of what SIrius paid for Howard in hopes of new subscribers, its been a failure. His audience has gone down and many of his fans who were polled saying they would pay to listen to him, simply havent...yet. From Howards standpoint, its been a success. Hes gotten paid quite handsomely and doesnt have the restrictions he did.
