In terms of email marketing, are shorter or longer emails more effective at getting the reader to take action?

    Probably I would say shorter, for the simple reason if the marketing presentation is too long and drawn out, the prospective customer or client will lose interest. The same principles apply to stories that are too long; the reader will get bored and want to get right down to the action.

    Visual appeal will capture the interest of prospective buyers more than pages of descriptive promises. Visual appeal can be in the form of colorful graphics or animated characters, as well as shorter paragraphs that get to the point.

    I speak from experience. I've seen web ads that kept going on page after page ad infinitum, and I found myself rapidly scrolling through them so I could finally get to the "meat" of the ad sell.

    Therefore, I think a concise, to-the-point email, peppered with color and animation is definitely more effective, not only in capturing the interest of a prospect, but inducing him or her to take advantage of the fine product or service that is offered.
