Help answer this question below.
It's my understanding that the owner of a certificate of deposit is the person who is named on it. If the CD is owned by (name one) or (name two) and (name one)dies, then (name two)becomes the sole owner.
It would not go to an estate of the deceased. The financial institution that holds the CD will be able to help you with this.
We need clarification on what you are asking. From what I can understand, your parents are dead. Your father and you are listed on three certificates of deposit. Are you asking if your parents are part of their estate? Or, are you asking if someone else (whom you neglected to mention in your post) is due a shared part of their estate?
If the former, then by virtue of your parents being dead, they can not own property anymore, and their estate is what they have left behind. They are not part of their own estate. Their property is their estate.
If the latter, then it depends on whether a will was left, and what it said. Please clarify the facts and your question so we may attempt an answer.

You're reading My dad died, mom died years ago with no will. On 3 CDs his name first, then my name; with the word "or"connecting our names. To me this means that we are equal owners or both primary owners of the CDs.In state of La are they part of his estate?
