Ben Burnley stated that the lyrics were inspired by the movie 28 Days Later, where a rage hormone can be transmitted like AIDS and is set loose in England. The music was originally a little faster tempo and was played as a live song called "Always."
i don't really know what exactuly it's talking about but in my opinion its about war or death ,not war and death ,its either war or death and its so meaningfull and deep
I'm really not sure, but I think it's a sort of comforting warning about people living a lie and not doing what they really want to...
Although I have read that it is about drugs (mainly heroin.) Also that it is about Witch trails (largely based on the video which I haven't seen) but that seems plausible to me...
Lots of people say that it's based on the film "28 days later" which again is plausible having seen the film, it kinda fits with the lyrics...
But of course all of this is pure speculation, as the only person that really knows is the guy who wrote it...

Well, In Language Class, My Teacher Said The Song Was Based Off The Book " The Lottery " By Shirley Jackson. It Was About A Town Where People Drew Out Paper From A Black Box. Then Whoever Won, Tessie, Was To Stand In The Center Of The Crowd And The Crowd Threw Rocks At Them. When It Was Written ( The Book ) WWII ( I Think ) Was Happening And So Was The Great Depression. So That May Explain That. And I Could Be Wrong About The Song And The Book. But Whatever It Is About, It`s A Great Song! :D
