  • Dont worry about it. I just had one almost a year ago and im only 16 it just feels kinda weird for a while. The only thing that hurt for me really was the shot and that only lasts for a few seconds. :)
  • Be sure to bring home the tooth and stick it under your pillow...you'll get big bucks for that one! Don't worry sweetie the only thing you'll feel is the needle and that lasts only seconds. Bring headphones to listen to some sooting music if you want.
  • When I had one, the dentist rubbed some numbing cream on my gums, then inserted a needle with anesthetic, to put my mouth to sleep. While he was working, the only thing that hurt was my neck and shoulders (because I kept hunching them up). After wards, I was very woozy for awhile, and then my mouth was sore for a day or two. I've felt much worse with flu, or allergies, so I would say it's not really so bad.
  • I had one last year, and I fell asleep half way through.
  • Umm, that means a lot of pain, but nothing serious, just a lot of pain, lol.
  • I have had five, today is can be done in one day and it is painless. Just be sure to tell the dentist if there is a inkling of pain..LET HIM KNOW. The most uncomfortable part of a root canal is keeping your mouth open for a long period of time and the rain coat they use to cover your teeth.
  • It depends on your dentist, but it isn't *that* bad. The anesthetic will stop all the pain. With the better dentist, I wondered what all the fuss was about. It took a long time, but it wasnt at all bad. With the less good one, there was a lot pf pushing and shoving, and I felt a bit beat up when it was over. But it wasn't painful, just uncomfortable.
  • I guess it's too late now and I hope it all went well, but I wouldn't have a root canal because (a) I can't afford one (b) they don't always work, and (c) I'm terrified of dentists drilling and finally (d), I have a very small mouth so holding it open for a long time really hurts.
  • Why would an 18 year need a root canal? You really should get a 2nd and 3rd opinion from good dentists! Ask the one that said you needed a root canal specifically why he/she believes this is necessary! This dentist sounds like another one that shouldn't have a license to practice!
  • When I have one done by an endodontist, there was no pain, just a mild discomfort. Of course if you go to an endodontist, that is all they do and are probably very, very good at it.
  • settle down, fight YOUR fear...people get them everyday, you will be ok....you will realize how silly you were AFTER its done....act 18, and not 12...:)
  • Don't worry about it, the bills still arrive in the mail tomorrow. :)
