Help answer this question below.
A coolent temperature sensor could also be your problem. If it thinks its warmer than it is it will make the mixture too lean to run. The part is not that expensive and easy to replace. The attached picture is for the non vtec engine. The ECT is the part I would think about changing.
Hope this helps.

no i dont think the distributor and cap will fix that. could be a eacv (electronic air controle valve) if car runs with foot on gas its not ignition switch eather. that is a hard fix over internet. i would recomend you take it to the dealer. after market repair shop are bad about guessing. could spend a lot of money on uneeded repairs. you can try and adjust idle. hope you can see pic. screw out idle should come up. screw in idle will go down. thats the best i can does for you. hope this helps.

you need a ignition switch.
The ect sending unit is the answer. I've been trying to figure this out
for a month. I pulled every fuse and relay to no avail. There are 3 temp
switches but the one you want is called the ect right behind the gooseneck. It cost me 14 bucks plus tax but I'm up and running.
Good Luck

You're reading Have a '94 Honda Accord SE.... car starts but immediately shuts off. Have had several mechanics look at it, but no one can seem to find what's wrong. I need this car to get to work, please any input would be great. Thanks.

We are in Wisconsin, car kept outside, weather anywhere from 0 - 35 degrees lately. Would weather affect car thinking it is warmer when it is below freezing outdoors?
by clairemeister on December 30th, 2007
Yes. If the sensor tells the car that it is 70 degrees when it is really 30 degrees the car will not use enough fuel on a cold start for it to keep running. The system will give a big squirt of fuel on first crank so will start, but then die. If you keep you foot on the gas it will probably keep running and if you let it warm up a few minutes it may keep running. If that is what happens it is a very good chance the ECT sensor is the problem. Looks like the part is 30 or 40 bucks.

thanks, will check into it.... is there a sensor right in the distributor itself? That's what I was told when they said I needed a new distributor, because a sensor in it was shot...
by clairemeister on December 30th, 2007
Yes there is , but if that sensor was shot it wouldn't start at all.

you nailed it|. It is the ect sending unit. I live in Ga. I replaced the
main main relay because the car would not start on humid days. This last
problem just came out of the blue. Car would start but stop immediately.
We noticed the temp gauge came up when the car was cool.I replaced the ect sending unit and boom lites every time.autozone part # tu121 13.99
