Is there a way to use a color monitor on a DOS machine that requires a monochrome monitor?

    It works. Just connect it and see. In fact, the windows
    installation CD runs in the DOS mode to copy its files.
    Color monitor can do equally well in monochrome works.

    why are you using DOS to begin with?

    Yes there are ways, but it requires some hardware hacks. google it, and be prepared to solder a few connections.
