    Ken Norton was acclaimed the Heavyweight Champion by the WBC when Leon Spinks declined to meet him before Spink's return bout with Mudammad Ali. Norton lost his 1st bout in defense of his title to Larry Holmes. Norton had also lost 2 prior bids for the title against George Foreman and Ali, making him a Heavyweight Champion with an 0-3 record in Heavyweight Championship bouts.
