This depends on a few factors.
1) Wether of not the author is alive or dead.
They say Julius Caesar's signature is worth like $1,000,000, since nobody has been able to find one.
2)The famousness or infamousness of the author. The more well known the author, the more valuable the book will increase. Especially after death.
3) The rarity of the book, or popularity of the book.
4) And finally, the value it has to the percpective. A man could have no interest in the book and not be interested in buying it=$0. Or the person could have a great interest in the author and/or the book =$$$
