    Making all sorts or rules and regulation is just another way for the church to control you by making you seem special. I am sure if you look hard enough there will be some where in the bible or Koran that actually circumcise the male and female. There ought to be a book out that lists the do and do not of religious practices. My bet its a huge book.

    Why are certain meats forbidden to eat by religions?

    There can be very good reasons for forbidding the eating of certain meats. With regard to Kosher foods you can break it down to some of the following reasons.

    Undercooked meat from swine can contain triganosis, a worm like parasite. So swine is forbidden.

    Fish that do not have fins or scales usually are scavengers and may pick up diseases from the foods they feed on. So Cod is ok, but lobster, crabs or shellfish no.

    Any bird of prey or animal that eats carrion, such as a dog, are not considered Kosher. If an animal has both a cloven foot and chews the cud it is Kosher to eat. A cow has a cloven hoof and chews the cud. It is Kosher. A pig has a cloven hoof but does not chew the cud. It is not Kosher. A rabbit chews the cud, but does not have a cloven hoof. It is not Kosher.

    I hope this gives some practical reasoning behind the religious injunctions.

    Any animal that has blood has life. The reason why meats are banned is because of that life given force.

    Vegetables and other plants do not have blood. There for are all acceptable.

    Some religions outlaw the consumption of certain meats because some animals are sacred in those particular religions. For instance, Hindus can't eat meat because cows are sacred in Hinduism.

    Mmmmmmmm, i hate to say it people but there are some very uneducated answers here.

    1 Timothy 4 as follows

    1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

    2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

    3Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

    4For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

    So, it is incorrect, for any religion on the planet to say we cannot consume certain meats.

    Most of the food laws in the Bible are for the health of your body. Swine will eat anything. Scavengers are most the other that are forbidden. They eat the dead things and some of what they eat died of disease. Have you heard they phrase "you are what you eat"? If they eat a diseased animal and then you eat them, you could potentially get sick of that disease.

    If you follow the health laws you will be healthier. If you do not you will not. It will not send you to hell. But it might get you to heaven or hell faster.

    Some animals are deemed unclean presumably by their dietary and nesting habits.
