Why the rpms go up&down on my 1993 honda civic after 20 or 30 minutes of idle?

    I have a 92 toyota paseo, and when step on the gas and hold at 2500 rpms the gage goes up&down.

    At that point, the engine is totally heat-soaked. Most modern cars have cooling fans which draw QUITE a bit of juice. More amp draw from the alternator means more parasitic drag which will drop your idle speed until the coolant temp drops enough for the fans to disengage and allow the engine to turn easier/freer.
