• Joker...Christians who are really following Jesus example, do not go to war and kill their own Christian brothers and sisters in another country. Here's what secular history has to say about the early Christians attitude about serving in the armed forces. "A careful review of allthe information available goes to show that, until the time of Marcus Aurelius (Roman emperor from 161 to 180 C.E.), no Christian became a soldier; and no soldier, after becoming a Christian, remained in military service." P.333
  Jesus apostles fortold an apostosy..after their death..that certain ones would rise up and twist the Scriptures to tickle ears and draw off ones to follow them..The last of the apostles "John" died about 100 ce. By the second century the aposty was well under way...After about 400 C.E. it was in full sway...Christendom does not follow Jesus teachings or practices.

• vew573, many thanks for pointing that out, & I cant disagree that the actual teachings of Jesus & Christianity are not represented by the Roman Catholic Church, however, it is the largest expression of these teachings in the world & it's history is 2 millennia of slaughtering anyone who scared or challenged them. Numerous scientists & philosophers such as Galileo & Copernicus, Jews during the inquisition, the crimes of the Malleus Maleficarum which led to the widespread murder of women, the slave trade & accompanying racism, & all these things endorsed by Rome, a Church drenched in blood. This may not be what Jesus wanted, but they are the actions carried out in his name. & I believe people / institutions should be judged on their actions, not their ideals. Hence my earlier comment that Christianity is one of the most bloodsoaked religions in world history.
