Question

Help answer this question below.

My husband listens to his Ipod exclusively, and doesn't hear any new songs unless it's from Itunes, a tv commercial, or me. Do you listen just to your MP3 player or do you like to listen to other music sometimes too? How do you keep up with what's new?

    JAMMco... its complicated...

In the car I listen to my iPod and have it plugged into the stereo.

On the way to work and on the way back I carpool, so I listen to the radio and get to hear the 'new' music. If I like it, I download it and share it with my family.

If you only listen to current or new music, you miss out on the wide range of music from the past that was even more worthy of being listened to than most of today's crap.

I give my kids a wide range of musical interest through my ipod, expanding their musical knowledge ten times that of someone who only listens to Top 40 or 'new' music.

Today it's pretty much singing about sex, drugs, money or bragging about yourself.

New music doesn't always equal Good Music.

For the most part, I don't get interested in what's "new" but what's "new to me" if that makes any sense.

I am like your husband; I listen to my iPod exclusively and I think the newest song on my pod is 7 years old. I'm an older guy so I think I am trapped in a 60s, 70s time warp when it comes to musical tastes. I keep up with newer music by listening to what people say about songs by word of mouth.

  • I listen to you tube and still buy dvd's. I'm old fashioned but I know that will someday change.

My 14 year old son educates me on the new stuff & I expose him to the classics. Fortunately, we have similar tastes in music.

I like to watch music video's on the internet or on television. The radio and television are good ways of finding new music because you're not just listening to what you usually listen to. Websites such as MySpace is good for this too, and you'll probably find a lot of original and unsigned bands on it.

I used to go out looking for new music, and listened to certain radio shows to keep on top of things. I don't do that so much anymore and rely on my boyfriend to tell me when there is a new album or artist he thinks I should check out.

Actually I was falling behind with musical tastes unitl I got xm radio. They have a much better mix then traditional radio stations. And having a 24hr. top 20 station also helps.

I have an MP3 player, but I listen to music on Pandora.com. Most of the music I listen to is made in the late 90's, and early 2000's. I don't really keep up with new music unless it's from a band I like or I hear something good promoted on Youtube.

Given a site like Youtube or GrooveShark ...I like to go to the "What's Popular" section ... or Most Watched Video's in the music section of YouTube...!!!

I was just in a question that seemed to be exclaiming that even our "New" Music was rehashed old stuff and was asking for some new non Retro sounds...!!! I tend to agree...music seems to be at a loss for NEW fresh sounds and messages...!!!

Another Good friend tries to pull me out of the 60's and Grunge music by keeping me updated on the Modern Stuff... but my wife has complained that I always revert back to the Classic Rock genre ...!!!

Dude, hurray for your husband. They must not make good music anymore...oh wait, that can't be right, a new AC/DC cd came out just last year! How do I keep up with what's new? Three ways: 1. It's forced on me by most of the people at school, 2. I happen to be within earshot of the radio in my parents room when bro Jake mentions a new CD coming out, and 3. I type in the names of bands/singers who's music I like at least 90% of in the searchy bit on limewire. Yes, I know, blah blah pirating, blah blah illegal, blah blah...I'm not going to explain this.
