  • No. Vanilla flavor is simulated, it's not really vanilla.
  • That is one way to get vanilla flavor. But you can also get it from the bean pods and scrape the seeds out. It works well with delicate dishes or ones to be served cold. You can place the empty bean into a container of sugar and turn that into vanilla sugar, even whirring it up to grind the bean and adding that for a lot of vanilla flavor in the sugar.
