From the windup position, is a pitcher allowed to raise his pivot foot slightly off the rubber, after taking his backward rocker step, in order to turn it and place it on the front edge of the rubber?

    I beleive the rules state that the pichers pivot foot has to maintain contact with the rubber, while he's in the pitching motion. However, that's rarely possable, so the umpires give some latitude to the rule.
