Help answer this question below.
No, they can detect the presence of caffeine (and the level) the same as any other substance.
10mg? That is about 1/10 a cup of coffee.( or about that)
Acute overdose can occur after drinking more than 3 or 4 cups of coffee and the symptoms may include restlessness, nervousness, excitement, insomnia, flushing of the face, increased urination, gastrointestinal disturbance, muscle twitching, a rambling flow of thought and speech, irritability, irregular or rapid heart beat, and psychomotor agitation.[63] In cases of much larger overdoses mania, depression, lapses in judgment, disorientation, loss of social inhibition, delusions, hallucinations, psychosis, rhabdomyolysis.
Death could occur with drinking roughly 80 to 100 cups of coffee for an average adult while drank within a limited timeframe.
So if somebody dies that has consumed 10mg of caffeine the investigators need to start searching for the rat poison...
The LD (lethal dosage) is 150 to 200 mg per kilogram of body mass in humans. There are 10mg found in a hershey bar.
