Is it illegal to encourage assault on police officers?

    I'm not really familiar with the various laws of different places. But I think it's not right to encourage assault on ANYONE.

    This depends on what you mean by encouraging. If you run a radio show and you tell the public that they should assault police, this may be encouraging, but without more, is protected by the First Amendment. If you encourage by taking an affirmative step in the assault, this is conspiracy to commit assault. For example, if you told someone where to find the cop, this is an affirmative step in the planning of the crime, and you are culpable.

    Of course, where the First Amendment ends and conspiracy begins is not completely clear.

    I'm sure it is !! Besides , attacking police officers or armed citizens, for that matter, is a really good way to wind up getting killed. Best case scenario , you could get the hell beaten out of you, or go to jail, or both !! It's best to treat others with the same respect you'd want to be treated. You'll stay healthier and live longer !!

    Assaulting law enforcement is a crime, and you can also get charged for encouraging. Better to keep bad ideas in your head.
