My desexed male cat (normally the dominant cat) is unwell at the moment (with no apparent cause), my other cat a female desexed cat has begun hissing at him. They are normally the best of friends. What would be the reason for this change in behaviour?

It could be that he smells different, and therefore she is treating him as if he is a different cat. Cats' sense of smell is over 3000 times more acute than ours, and is a primary identifier of/to other animals.

I hope you have taken him to the vet. if not, please do so. Your female is telling you that he is *really* sick.
