wallet size!!!
There are many different ways to make these. You could make these to the size of a mold if you make it with resin. (The only problem would be that you couldn't change out the picture.)
You could also use glass or plastic plates and wrap them closed with wire if you so desire. It can look really cute. I'm trying to find directions and will post a link in the comments if/when I find them.
Some gals use those science glass slides, put the picture between two of them and use a silver sticky tape on the edges.
To make the round, clear ornaments, you buy the "blanks" at the craft store. They split in half, and you simply snap them together after you put the photo in.
The ones I make are made with yarn and plastic canvas, and I leave a space between the front and back to slip them in.
The size depends on the ornament you make, usually about 2" x 3".
1. Purchase any size clear glass ornament.
2. Make a copy of a picture the size of the diameter of the ornament minus a tiny bit (serious, like 1/16" max).
Note: I like black and white or sepia colors.
BE SURE THE COPY MACHINE YOU USE ACCEPTS TRANSPARENCIES. IF UNSURE, USE A LOCAL KINKO'S.
3. Make copy of picture, increase or decrease size according to size of ornament and your preference.
4. Cut picture out in a circle that will fit the diameter of your glass ornament.
5. Roll picture up into a tube small enough to fit into the top of the ornament. You will need to remove the ornament top gently so as to replace it at the end.
5. Use tweezers to gently place picture in middle of ornament.
6. Replace the top of the ornament. It's easy.
I made these for family members one year and they loved them. They last a long time and they're very cheap to make. Enjoy!
It really depends on the size of the ornament.
How do you measure in microns? I goldplate my jewellery myself, measure by time in tank & volts, but need to plate definitely 3 microns.
