sometimes if you complain enough about an error in your account, they will give you a couple free trades to appease you. This really works well when you have been a customer for a long time since they want to keep your business and make you happy.

Some online brokers offer free trades to new clients. When you are already a client and the broker incurs technical problems with their site, you can call the broker and explain your difficulty when the problem occured and they may offer free trades.
