Does my web hosting company's IP have an effect on how my site ranks?

    If your site is hosted in a place where there is bottlenecks or limited bandwidth to the internet backbone, it can have an effect. As well, the IP may be blacklisted or banned by the major search companies if youre using a hosting provider with clients who are up to hanky panky. Someone else on the same server sending out a billion spams from the same IP range can affect you.
