  • You may have been displeased by the city view, but venture into the Rocky Mountains. The farther and more isolated areas you go to, the more beautiful. You could also try the National Parks, Aspen, or Glenwood Springs.
  • Denver's right at the border where the mountains become less impressive. Travel south for about 30-45 minutes, and you'll start to see better views of the Rocky Mountains. Most of Colorado Springs has a very nice view.
  • I dunno about from Denver, but I do know that the drive westward on I70 or I80, approaching the Rockies after 800 miles of nothing, _IS_ quite impressive. They seem to spring out of nowhere. And the last time I did the drive, I watched two storms run right into eachother, it was awesome! Yay for the Rocky Mountains!
  • Denver is what's known as a "front range" city, much like Cheyenne and Billings. It is situated in the piedmont area where the plains and mountains meet. You need only go a few miles west of Denver and you'll begin your climb into some high mountains, and the scenery is spectacular.
  • Duplicate. Sorry.
  • Well, to each his own, but I've lived in the Denver metro area since 1992, and I have always appreciated the view to the west and southwest. I think it's glorious! In fact, the longer I live here, the more I love it. I'm strictly a surburbanite, so I have rarely ventured into the mountains themselves. I like to see them from right here in Aurora. Many times, I've taken road trips, and coming back through Kansas on I-70, I always get the most fabulous, postcard views of the Rockies on the distant horizon. It really does look like a painting sometimes. I love it when it's shrouded in fog and rain, or dotted with puffy white clouds, but a clear day at sunset is my favorite. It's actually a humbling sight. Sure, there's smog, but I've had that everywhere I've lived. And anyway, it makes the sunrises and sunsets more colorful! LOL But honestly, I think there's nothing like living in sight of the Rocky Mountains. And that comes from a Southern California girl born and bred, who used to be sure nothing could ever top the view of the sun setting on the Pacific. I was wrong!
  • I've been thee in every season ad I must say I was disapointed that they appeared smlller than expected. The Aderondacks here seem much bigger when you get around Lake Placid..For fairness sake though, There was a lot of the Rockies that might be better in places other than Denver. I think It's because the Denver area butts right up against the mountains, that's why everyone thinks they're so big..We drove up into them, and they seemed big, steep and scarey then, with a lot of places having no guardrails,AAAHHH. I saw no smog while I was there, just snow every time. I liked everything except their 3 ringed airport. Thouhgt I was going to the circus, hahha:)
