You're reading I put premium gas in my 1996 Honda Civic HX and now the check engine light has come on. When scanned, the computer shows no codes. What could be wrong?

Mostly good answer, though I take exception with the last statement but I suppose that it all depends on the definition of "need". If you allow for the fact that older, worn engines have different requirements than they did 150K miles ago, then I agree.If not, I have had cars that ran poorly (or not at all) on 87 despite the official rating. *+4*
