  • I have never had problems mixing coloured and white clothing, although I do wash brand new, brightly-coloured clothing separately the first couple of times through the washing machine. I never wash my clothing in hot water, which is more liable to cause colours to bleed. I also avoid bleaches and similar products. Since almost all of the clothing I own is cotton or has a substantial percentage of cotton in the blend, I can't really say how synthetics behave in the wash. As for the rest: they all go in the wash together, except for really grubby work clothing. I've been doing this for 30 years with very few adverse incidents.
  • Yes it is necessary to seperate them...especially if they are new! You don't want that famous load of pink underwear because you put in a red sock with your white cloths. I think that this video explains the reasons for seperation and other important laundering tips.
  • Because clothes with color sometimes bleed and can make your white clothes not so white and look kinda dirty. Even jeans, especially jeans you have to wash by themselves because they have so much dye in them that they make your color clothes look nasty as well. Hopes this answers your question :)
  • yes, colors bleed, especialy jeans. also jeans are a heavy fabric that may cause unwanted streching to other clothes.
  • Yes, jeans in their own load, whites, and colors separated.
  • 3 loads. White, darks, and reds. Then sheets and towels in their own load.
