To an extent I think it is ok to talk in a book store, if it were a Library I would say that it is rude to talk loud. All in all I think it is exceptable to talk in a book store.

Basically - yes. It's rude to speak loudly in most public places. Book stores have sitting areas where many people sit and relax with a book (presumably they aren't reading the entire book rather than making a purchase). Barnes & Noble, for one, has a cafe' inside their bookstore and frequently local college students go there to study. On a more basic note, if you are talking loudly enough to be easily heard by others, not just the person you are speaking to, it is rude. You should try to remember that others may not wish to be included in your conversation or hear your opinions while they are shopping/dining/watching a movie, etc.
