Have you ever done a search on your C Drive to notice all the garbage this site puts there?

This site is clean apart from the usual cookies, however you may have spybots/adware or viruses piggy backing their way in, you need to clean up and do some serious defences such as, firewall on/ a decent anti-virus/spyware detector and ad aware program all run regularly and if you are running Windows go to the windows live safety scanner page and do a FULL scan. It is not AB otherwise it would not last 2 seconds without somebody saying something loudly and often.

Yeah, I run AdAware every couple of hours to clear out all the tracking components that end up on my system after visting AB. It's harmelss, relatively speaking, but I've tested it when I'm on this site and this site only, and I definitely end up with stuff on my computer.

Why are you assuming that garbage on your C drive was put there by this website?

Other then cookies, flash components, and ActiveX, a website can't put anything on your computer without your permission.

I didn't find anything except a few cookies and temporary internet files- which are perfectly normal. I have my computer set to erase the temporary files each time I close my browse. I would suggest you do the same.

I have never found anything malevolent put on my computer by AnswerBag.

- You can do it under your Internet Settings. Usually it's under Advanced or Privacy depending on what browser you use. You can choose an option to "Empty Temporary Files each time I close browser." You can also choose to disallow Answerbag from using cookies, although it will stop some of the useful functions of the site.

Pardon my question, but it's a serious one. What stuff exactly? Cookies? Temporary files?

- go to tools...internet options...settings(beside delete button) and then view files..there are lots of cookies and things from this site....If you are on a Mac sorry I don't know how to tell you. Mostly cookies and temp files I think:)

- OK. Well, I hate to break it to you, but cleaning it out doesn't really accomplish anything. As soon as you visit AB again, it all comes back.

It looks like you will have to delete cookies and history Dbd, I do this daily as a matter of course, if you have i.e7 its easy via tools/internet options and delete all :o)

Try to turn off your notifications on your profile on 'My Preferences'. I don't think I've had the trouble where my C drive was being stuffed from AB components.

- Well at times my computer starts doing weird stuff since I have been on here. I did download a good cleaning program so I use that now. Hoping that solves the problems. :)

No I haven't. Nobody should. The only thing coming from this site is cookies and good ones. If you are receiving other files from the net which you didn't put on your computer, you should use a linux operating system such as Ubuntu. Macs are not as safe as they used to be unfortunately.

I try to regularly clear history and cookies. I have a Yahoo self support tool that helps me go through and clean up files. Not sure if you have something like that, but even if you don't, if you go through and delete internet history, cookies, etc. then you should clear all that out.

- yes I do it all the time...I was just wondering if I could prevent AB from adding all that junk onto my computer so I didn't have to clean it every night.

- hmmm, well I doubt it. unfortunately, visiting any website is going to add cookies and history, etc. on your computer. I just need to remember to clean out those files more often. and I have that self support tool that just lets me click to clean certain folders....

I had a terrible time when I first came on AB. I ended up with a virus that came through AB but with the help of a wonderful ABer, I was able to find it and get rid of it. I used Spybot, which is free and recommended by several techie folks I know.
I was having so much trouble that I believed I must have a whole herd of viruses, but I only had one.

- I began having problems after I began using AB. Twice I wiped my hard drive and reloaded everything. Things were great! I would slowly begin adding the old programs and then the websites and email. When I got to AB each time, the problems began again. I wrote AB but they didn't seem to take it too seriously. But someone did.

- I don't know if she was just an ABer or an AB staffer, but she walked me through several days worth of things, trying to find and fix the problem. As I understood it, a virus had gotten into my system, seemingly through AB, and buried itself in my start up files. I would erradicate it and it came back each time I rebooted. Eventually we were able to find and get rid of it. I wish I was tech savvy and could peal off lots of tech lingo, but this is a good as it gets! Sorry.

- Well, sounds like a coincidence to me. AB never asks the user to grant it any sort of permissions that would allow the installations of a virus. I have yet to hear of a single virus caused by AB.

i got the perfect answer cookies are just programs that is needed to run a thing at the point i get them then i auto delete them whit windows cleaner
