How do you think the world would cope if all the countries had to unify in the face of alien invasion?

The world could do little be watch and wait.Aliens from other worlds would be so advanced our weapons would look like mere toys to them.This would be unlikely for they are so advanced mentally that they would have no desire to destroy the planet earth.They are more like ET then the old 1950's movies depicting them destroying the earth.We can only think from our own perspective and could not even imagine theirs.

IF this did happen the countries would fight over who was to lead the fight against the invaders :o(

1/3 would fight, 1/3 would scheme and 1/3 would sell out.. the rest would be the survivors.

It would take them 3 years to set up the first meeting about how to decide to move forward and then decide on many future meetings to actually decide what to do about it. By which time - FFFSSTT - we're all vaporised.

I know how I personally would cope. I would end up in a cave somewhere with a nice big drum of gas, a 4 wheeler, enough MREs to last me a while, and a big old joint. I would sit back and see what happens, before deciding to get involved or not. As for the world, I see politicians delaying until the point where tactical nukes would have to be used on civilian targets to prevent a total planetary loss.

I don't think the countries are capable of unifying. I think if they tried, we would see World War III start, because there would be too many disagreements on who should be doing what and when. Several countries would want to be the one to give the orders and none of them would want to take orders from any of the others. They would start out to fight a common enemy but than they would end up fighting each other, and than they'd all be killed off by the aliens, because they would be so busy arguing about what to do that they'll wait too long to actually do anything.
