one thing you might do is call some local periodontisits offices in town and ask them if you can do an onsight visit with their hygentists. Tell them it will only take 10-15 min. of their time. Tell them you are interested to know about what they do and how they like what they are doing. Tell them this is a project you are working on for your career....and be sure to Thank them ahead of time as well. There may be some that will say "no" they are no interested in talking with you....but I bet there will be at least one that will talk with you. Or another thing you can do too....I am not sure where you live, but look in the yellow pages of your phone book and find where the medical dental schools are. Maybe go talk with some of the students who are either going to be hygientists or ask them if they know of anyone who you might go talk with. I worked with a few when I worked for a couple of periodontists. They really liked there jobs. That was in about 1987...they made about $25.00 an hour and were booked all the time. They saw their patients on the hour and would see about 7-8 patients a day. It was amazing. I am sure they make more now than what they did. hope this helped....good luck....
