Help answer this question below.
I believe he may be able to, actually. If you got your permanent resident status by marrying him, then I believe it is able to be revoked if the marriage does not last 7 years. I'm not 100% on that, but I'm pretty sure.
G'day Wallawalla,
Thank you for your question.
I would think that he might have difficulty. I would check with your lawyer for legal advice but if you are a permanent resident you would probably be entitled to stay unless you had committed a criminal offence or something like that.
Regards
You can't be deported. You may have to jump through some hoops but your residency only depended on him for your first couple years together. You should start working on getting your citizenship...
no
As long as you are a legal permanent resident and had the conditions removed from your status, you have nothing to worry about.
Hi there
Sorry for what it is happening to you. but he can not do anything now, you are now a permanent resident, he can not deport you. Your status is good unless you have commited a crime but other wise he can not touch, you can even talk to a lawyer about becoming a us citizen under your situation. hope this helps

You're reading I am a permanent resident. I divorced last year after 5 years of marriage. There was verbal abuse and violence. I filed for divorce. It was an unconstested divorce. Now he wants revenge and I suspect he will try to deport me. Can he succeed?
