  • Your vehicle has an internally regulated alternator. The voltage regulator is mounted within the alternator itself. It's still a replacable part, however I would reccomend getting help the first time you try it. Since it's in the right year range, don't forget to buy a new rectifier wiring harness to plug into the alternator. They have a tendency to melt in that year range and start a small fire. It's a good idea to replace it any time you replace or repair the alternator, even if the replacement alternator claims to have and improved rectifier design. A good alternator will come with a new harness in the box.
