This is why. "Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials

George Bush was the better choice in both elections and most Americans could see this. His competition was weak and we are lucky they were defeated. If the US and world media were not so biased against bush the margins in his favor would have been huge. He won in spite of the mass media controlled by the left. A large portion of voters pulls the lever based on whatever the media tells them. If we had a neutral or unbiased media, Bush probably would have won 60-40 or 70-30.

Because he is trying his best to run this country against people that are trying to ruin it. About the economy: It was Clinton that set up the house of cards. By the time Bush got in, it was already collapsing. And the dishonest corporate leaders deserve much of the blame for the mess. After all, Bush was not the CEO of Enron or WorldCom. About the war: I don't think anyone actually wants a war. I don't think anyone wanted Sept 11, 2001 but we got it anyways. That was not Bush's fault. And it wasn't his fault that Saddam Hussein refused to let the UN inspect the weapon site. That was the grounds for that war, whether or not weapons were actually found there. And more Jihadist a**holes keep disrupting Iraq, stopping us from pulling out. We should only pull out once we are certain that Jihadists will not re-emerge to take control of Iraq, and then us. And, if we have to strike Iran and Syria to keep Jihadists from doing another Sept 11, then we need to do it regardless of short-term sacrifices. About the "illegal" eavesdropping: Sad to say, there are some Jihadists right here in this country. I don't like the idea of every phone call or Internet activity being monitored by the government any more than anyone else does. But, I would rather Bush monitor it than some Jihadist who might kill me (or someone else) just for saying the wrong thing. To some people, Bush might seem a tyrant. But it is necessary to protect our freedom. Better a monitored blog or phone call than to have someone tell me everything to do and threaten severe punishment if I make a small mistake. Bush was re-elected simply because he did his best to address these difficult issues. He did make his share of mistakes, but at least he has been generally honest. And, he is not afraid to p!#$ off people if that's what it takes to get the whole job done. And, if anyone claims him a tyrant, I felt that way until I learned that the Jihadists were actually forcing him into that position. To me, it's THEM who are the real tyrants.

Honestly? There are many reasons. One of the biggest is that the Republicans made a concerted effort to put gay marriage on the ballots of many states; thereby, guaranteeing the strong turnout of his right-wing Evangelical Christian base. That was the strategy and it worked. It was just enough to tip the scales.
-
He won the electorial college votes.
-
Because the ones that voted for him were republicans, and he was the republican candidate.
-
Due to the dominance of the electoral vote.
-
I didn't. I voted Dem, just because I'd rather see anyone but him in office.
-
Statistically we never switch presidents in the middle of a war.
-
He did not win the majority vote, but won electorally in 2000. So Americans voted for him and elected him for the first time in 2004.
-
so he could waste his 8 years and never come back lol
-
They did not vote him in .There was fraud in the voting process and they would not allow a recount, which should have been done.
-
Beats the hell outta me. I didn't vote for him in either election. I hate that man.
-
We Americans were on something that day we voted.
-
Because the majority of Americans were deceived. Plus is was the lesser of two evils for a lot of people because John Kerry was an idiot too. Ron Paul for President '08
-
I think the main reason was the National Security issue. After 9/11 America felt vulnerable and under attack in a way that it has probably never felt before. When people feel vulnerable they instinctively move to the right. Since election day was only about 6 months after the successful invasion of Iraq, it was not obvious what a disaster this actually was. And it was not so obvious that the invasion of Afghanistan, rather than suppressing Al Quaida, had spread it round the world. Kerry failed to convince on National Security. So on election day 2003, Bush looked the best bet for the insecure. Wrong, but that is why they voded as they did.
-
I didn't. I didn't vote for him the first time.
-
I've asked myself that for...um, how many years has the idiot been in office? Yeah, that long. I have no idea how anyone could have - security or not. I didn't, and didn't vote for him the first time either.
-
... it was either vote again for the "bad" choice or vote even "worse" ... they did not have a "good" choice.
-
He was the lesser of two evils.
-
I was also voting for my Commander-in-Chief. I couldn't in good conscience vote for Kerry. (Though, technically, I didn't vote, because we didn't get our absentee ballots in Iraq.)
-
Because people are morons.
-
Because we weren't able to vote for "None of the Above".
-
BECAUSE WE STILL NEEDED SOME MORE GOOD LAUGHS DURING PRESS CONFERENCES
-
HOnestly it was probably who he ran against, Kerry would have been a disaster far greater than anything you are seeing today.
-
Why did Brits vote for Tony Blair for a third time? The answer is the same for some reason unknown to me they wanted to!
-
Because John Kerry was such a tool.
-
Because John Kerry was such a tool.
-
I think it was because Ameicans had to pick one, and Kerry was an even worse choice. Shrub was the lesser of two evils, if you will. The best choice would have been "none of the above."
-
Bush was not elected by a popular majority the first time (Gore won, but Bush had more electoral votes), and Bush barely won the second time with a razor thin majority over Kerry. Kerry was a weakened candidate who did not enjoy the full support of the party, Ralph Nader siphoned off some votes, and the election in Ohio was probably rigged by the Republicans, but since they destroyed records, we may never know. Either way, at least 1/2 of the people in America were frightened by the constant terrorism level warnings, which convinced the Americans that Kerry, the decorated Vietnam veteran was actually a coward who couldn't defend the U.S., while the draft-dodging, A.W.A.L. National Guard cocaine-snorting Bush could defend America. This is a classic case of silly butch Cowboy bravado and news media fluff fooling the American people for a while, and in this case, long enough to re-elect an idiot and a clown named Bush.

GOOD QUESTION!!!!
-
That's the $100,000.00 question?..............beats me!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I didn't, but then look at the choices offered. If Pee Wee Herman would have been running I would have voted for him over the choices we had.
-
Many people were manipulated into believing that what Bush and his cronies’ said was true. Others are oblivious to the important issues at stake and only care about frivolous issues (such as owning big/powerful guns, being a Christian, and disallowing gay marriage) that have little to do with the health of our society. Others are rich/selfish and only care about getting tax breaks for the wealthy….and others stupidly felt it was more important to elect someone who seemed like they would be a cool person to hang-out with on the ranch than elect someone who had the mental aptitude and strength to lead a nation.
-
I don't know..nor do I know why anyone voted for him the first time...I wish someone would be able to explain it in logical, clear and concise words..no emotion, no diatribe, no insulting of the other candidates..I would certainly appreciate anyone who can explain why in only positive terms without denigrating the opposition or any of the other candidates. Can anyone out there do that?
-
Probably something to do with our naturally masochistic nature. We just didn't get enough lies and deceit during the first four years and said what the h*ll - let's have another four of this clown, see if can just destroy the nation and its image 'round the world, and damn! He did it! I am ever hopeful that following the removal of the Bush in January '08, the incoming Prez will do whatever it takes to restore America's image as a country of integrity and honor.
-
Amnesia.
-
Wasn't me!
-
Legitimate question. I hate to think that half the people who voted honestly believed the country would be well off under Bush. I voted for Kerry but didn't have my heart in it...mostly an anti-Bush vote. Looks like this time around we will have some clear choices. Hope so.
-

-
I agree with Kedar
-
Because he did it illegally and most of the general public, DO NOT DO THEIR homework when it comes to politics , as we have noticed the man is a complete moron.
-
Because they thought better the devil you know than the one you don't.
-
Either the polls were rigged (as there were many rumors to that effect) or they were brainwashed ... that's all I can figure. I don't watch FOX news so the brainwasing didn't affect me.
-
Because we were at war and switching Presidents during war meant switching the head of the armed forces, and switching the head of the armed forces meant that we were losing or doing something wrong. People did not want to admit anything like that....It is some kind of "subconscious denial"....
-
People felt he had served us well after 9/11 and that he was the person to continue the War on Terror. At the time, a majority of Americans felt that Iraq was the right decision, despite not finding the stockpiles of WMDs. Then there was also the lack of coherent campaigning from John Kerry, who attempted to frame the election around Vietnam.
-
Why did they vote for him the first time..... anyway, see Kedars answer. In my opinion, Bush set things in motion from the lat two years of Clintons' awesome reighn. He tied him up in court, set up 9/11, and set vote rigging in motion. Not alone of course... he is way to dumb to have done it alone.... but he has money(even more now that oil prices are skyrocketing) and his family has money, no doubt even senoir is dissappointed in what he has helped his son do.... decimate this country. We didn't vote for him (I only know one person who vote for him, and even he didn't do it the second time) The elections were rigged... They HAD to be.
-
George bush scared the american people with the Islamic Terrorism Zombie (He created) into re-electing him
-
Because the election was held in America. :)
-
The Religious Right voted, the college students didn't. I remember standing in line for well over an hour in the early voting line... ugh! I was already active in the primary, so I was definitely on the record there. My brother and I were the only people under 50 there, I think. Soccer Moms and NASCAR dads voted, the artists didn't. Oh, and anyone who thought Kerry should have won got tased! (If you haven't seen that recently on the news, I'm surprised.) *sighs* I should've voted Libertarian.
-
BECAUSE HE'S FROM TEXAS!
-
To keep Scary Carrey out of office
-
They didn't, his cronies stold it! Voter fraud everywhere.
-
He was the better of two bad choices.
-
Because he was at the very least a consistent moron. Kerry couldn't figure out if he was or not.
-
George Bush was elected becuse he made false promises to americans that needed it.
-
Because he was a far better choice than that moron John Kerry.
-
Perhaps He was the best of the worst lot at that point of time.
-
I think the credit should go to Chad and Monica Lewinsky!
-
it was fixed money talks
-
Because they were STUPID!!!!!!!!
-
My hunch is that, despite the official tallies, that Kerry won in 2004. Just a hunch, it's what my gut tells me. Yes, I think that it is deeply embarrassing that millions of people voted for Bush. Definitely some convoluted reasoning going on there. religion, the occupation of Iraq, Kerry and all of his flaws, Swift-Boating...tragic. This entire 8 years has been like a long, national nightmare. 364 days left to go!
-
Because what was the alternative?
-
They didn't, the supremes installed him!
-
Actually, he was only elected by the people ONE time.... There were no good candidates in 04. 08 is proving to be even worse.
-
I think half the voters had been drinking
-
Best choice yo...
-
You got me...
-
i wasn't old enough to run
-
Because the majority of the people may not be the ones who protest and and show disrespect for our nation. Many saw the flaws that the democratic party candidates had back then, and it is only worse now. The party is broken, and has chosen broken candidates to send to the general election and will again. When the vote does not go "their way", they cry "foul". some things never change. The voters knew back then Mr. Bush was the correct choice, as they will see Senator McCain is the correct choice in November!
-
I certainly didn't vote for him either time. And I think we all know he didn't win the first election. He lost the popular vote, but won the electoral. That's why I think that system is so bogus. If we the majority didn't vote for a certain candidate, that candidate should not be in office. Period. I concur with Kedar on this question. The system is jacked up and voter fraud was rampant.
-
I did not. But I think some find Al Gore boring. They preferred the cute little monkey faced Texas boy to the smart polished man that would have been a great leader probably.
-
Because, as the great circus-master P.T. Barnum is reputed to have said, "No one ever lost money underestimating the intelligence of the American public" Properly packaged, attention can be diverted to personal issues such as morality, gay marrage and abortion as apposed to substanive issues such as the war, the economy, healthcare and education. Throw in some dirty politics and you've won a couple of elections. Read "The Prince"
-
Vote for G.W. the second time???? I didn't vote for him the first time!?!? In fact, the majority of us didn't vote for him the first time...don't really know what happened the second time. Proof of the dumbing down of America I suspect.
-
Because they thought that by voting for Bush, they were actually going to get some;) That's a big seller in those Red states;)
-
They didn't!!! it was a fix
-
I didn't
-
kedar has a wonderful and informed answer, but I don't remember why people voted for Bush. I voted Democrat but you know what happened so that was the end of it. My whole family, all of my friends and others just want a third party to get a good amount of seats in Congress to start building a third party choice.
-
Mass Stupidity.
-
The same question has been baffling me for the past 8 years but, if it helps any, he wasn't elected, he was appointed
-
Bescause the American people were stupid, they could not get the duct tape off of their mouths to voice a opinion , nor could they vote right only seeing GWB as the right person to vote for which was a big mistake for this country. Ed C
-
The democrats offered up wack jobs as Presidental candidates and there was no real alternative. But we got Socialism today and that was their goal.
-
John Kerry is more of a douche bag then Bush. I could imagine we would be worse off if he had won. But I didn't vote for either one of them.
-
Diebold
-
Bush didn't get the most votes his first term, so the American people only voted him for real the second term. I think it was done mostly out of fear. When you are terrified you usually take the known over the unknown even if the known has proven to be terrible.
-
Brain wash. Some people are so far in the left or right that if Carrot head or SpongeBob was running for their party they would still vote for him.
-
Why did Americans vote for Obama the first time?
-
This was the one election I couldn't vote in because California didn't send my ballot to me in time. I received it 2 weeks after the election.
-
hahahh well maybe some did..but from the look of things it didn't matter who voted for Bush..the election was rigged anyways..so to answer your question I guess Bush voted for Bush and that's all that mattered.....
-
I have no clue! Because people are weird and they thought he could be smart when a guy like him are born not able to run a country.
-
Americans were paralyzed by brain at that time!
-
1) It is rare for a president to lose a wartime election. 2) His challenger did not exactly spark any passion. When the best thing people can say about a candidate is that "he's not George Bush", that doesn't say much. 3) When the opposing candidate is just as douchey as the douche already in office, the incumbent douche has the advantage for being the douche you know.
-
what is the secret of bill clinton's success for his strong govt?
-
He was given the opportunity to finish what he had started... real far that got us!
-
I don't think there was nearly as many votes as you think there was for Bush.. I think that election was rigged.
-
idk, i wasn't even registered to vote back then. but i would've voted for him.
-
If we didn't, we'd be at war with melting icebergs. Our soldiers would be constantly packing dry ice around them, trying to keep them from melting.
-
Because the first 4 years actually went pretty good. The second 4 years were not. Many people think it is because for the first 4 years he had a Repub. congress.. and a Dem. congress the last 4. Some people think that it is because he just sat down the last 4. I don't know..lets just hope that Obama's first 4 are good. I am all for things getting better.

John Kerry flip-flops. "I voted for it before I voted against it"
