  • To whom did they give this information?
  • Give me your employer's name, so I can make a note never to work for him. I don't know if that's illegal or not, but it sure is creepy.
  • It was a person who's child went to the same daycare as my daughter did. The daycare provider moved out of state and they were seeking a contact number for her. Which is does not sound like a big deal, but I have reasons as to why my number is not even listed in the phonebook. I'm furious that they did it. So it seem that any Joe of the street can have my personal information.
  • Missouri has a common law tort called invasion of privacy. Although giving out an address and phone number is most likely insufficient to create a cause of action, giving details about surgery could be. If your employer was more specific than just saying surgery (e.g. he is out getting his third nipple removed), than this could be invasion of privacy. You would have a harder time if all that was said is that he is having surgery. Note: Invasion of privacy is not a crime. Rather, it is a private right. Therefore, it is not illegal to give out the information, it just subjects you to potential liability.
  • Thank you everyone for you help. I have found my answer.
  • Have you ever heard of the "PRIVACY ACT"??. Not sure if that is the whole name of it, but put it like this, its to do with your personal business not to be released to anyonw without your consent. Let me give u kinda like an example of something. say you are looking for a job and u r still working. So the place u apply for this job at call your present employer. They are only allowed to give out so much info. Things they can say: Good worker, reliable, dependable. They cannot and should not and know they shouldnt give out any of your personal business not unless their not playing with a full deck. Sue his ass and own that damn company yourself. Good luck with that. I hope u would get the whole damn company. i live in missouri too, this place just sucks anymore. Been here all my 45 yrs. Missouri sucks!!!
