Help answer this question below.
I think it's like a lot of other illegal stuff. People are going to do it weather it's legal or not. If they'd legalize it then they could control it to keep it safe and tax it.
Nope. Because, clearly, it's still happening. Tax it, regulate it. Would be healthier for everyone involved-- require exams, require condoms, require this that and the other thing. Safer as well. Far less chance of the john pulling a gun on the prostitute- Or the other way around, even.
My thing is, instead of asking, "should prostitution be legalised?" ask "Why was it banned in the first place?"
No. I would rather have our police and detectives going after murderers and thieves than prostitutes who basically provide a service. In my mind prostitution is a victimless crime.
Not to mention the fact, that we would have better control over stds if prostitution were legalized. And we could tax their earnings.
no, the fact that it's a crime is nonsense.
Not at all. The illegality is what causes most of the abuse. It should be legal and regulated allowing women access to protection.
And morally what is wrong with it anyway? If it is consensual I see no problem. Again most of the problem comes from people being coerced into it.
EDIT: I have just realised how sexist I was in this answer. Honest mistake as I do think the vast majority are women but it applies to both sexes :)
No, I think pimping and that stuff should be illegal, but I believe prostitution should be legal
Why should one human being have control over what another human being (woman or man) can or can't do with their genitalia?
No, I believe that it should be legalized. It would keep the women and men safer and cleaner with better living standards and medical care...plus they could be made taxable. I don't use prostitutes but I think they should be protected...I also believe that this is under consideration in Vancouver, Canada right now.
No. Maybe it would be safer for them if they had legal aid by their side. It's going to be done other way. I think of it as a job...a dangerous one at that...ppl should do what they want with their bodies..my OPINION... though... I would never want my kid to be "I want to be a prostitute when I grow up" Call me a hypocrite
If it is yours then you should be able to sell it, but anyone else who profits from this should be punished.
no i dont think it should, i do however think it should be controlled in one way or another to protect the girls and in some instances the guys
I think it should be a crime to sell sex or BUY it as well. But not just on one side. There is no way it can be regulated and is too much a cash business with no records. Either give and take it free or go to jail.
No, I don't. Prostitution, in and of itself, is a victimless crime. As it is, prostitutes are often horribly exploited. Legalization allows for standardization and regulation that can protect both the workers and the clients.
Having said that, I do not understand why prostitution is illegal, prostitutes are routinely harassed and arrested, yet those that solicit the prostitutes are rarely arrested. I have a question about that out here somewhere...
Although I very much agree that everyone should have the choice to go see a prostitute or to become one, I think that some rules need to be their for everybody's safety. Having sex with strangers is, after all, a dangerous business and needs to be controlled in some way. I dont see prostitution as morally wrong- Im a strong believer in free will.
No it should be legalized medically licensed and taxed, but most definately not illegal.
It is illegal in my state.
Isn't it already in many countries, or maybe it's the religion.
Oh well if not, YES.
no but regulated for sure
im sick of people with a goody 2 shoes attitude. Prostitution is not a problem if its between consenting adults. If nobodys being hurt protection is being used only factors related to prostition are wrong ie drug addiction, pimps, poverty, women with low self esteem. For example i admit to my friends to sleeping with prostitutes soom of them areprobable now very wealthy with rates like 100 pounds per hour. Although soom will call these types female escorts they are still prostitutes. Its not always wrong get my point now i hope so
My feeling is that there are peolle that use their boxing skills to make money and others that use their bodies and who is anyone to tell another person what they can or cannot do with their own body. It may sound stupid but if a guy or a girl wants to charge money and use their skills in that way, its no different than anyone else a long as it is controlled and the people in that business are medically monitored
I Totally and Completely disagree with prostitution. It is Wrong Wrong Wrong!Lord have mercy on anyone who participates in such an inhumane act.
The body was not designed to tolerate such abuse and it is against all that is right!
Yep.
Yes I do and I think that the court should get them help so they wont go back on the streets
No. Prostitution should not be a crime. It is a way that some women (and me, I guess) put bread on the table. The government should not be invading private lives.
It's curious that the Repulicans, who are always shoulting that government should get off our backs are usually the ones who write and enforce laws regarding sex, morality and drugs.
Be consistent: get off our backs!
No, but I do think they need some help on what-ever happen to them to make them this way. instead of jail I think theropy would do the trick. I think most prostitutes are victims of abuse from the past.
I think it should be regulated. It shouldn't be illegal. They should have doctors on site at their facilities to check the ladies out daily and weekly.
No. It should definitely be legalized so that people involved can be offered safe sex practices. There are too many prostitutes getting beaten up by their pimps, and johns going home to their families with STDs because those involved are more concerned with not getting caught than with being safe. That said, a gentleman does not frequent prostitutes, and it is not a good thing to be a prostitute, and opinion I think most people share. So I think that society marginalizes the sex industry naturally.
At 4k per hour she had better paint my house too
Too many of the girls who engage in prostitution are virtual slaves to thier pimps. They are abused, controlled and had thier egos destroyed. Prostitution is not a victim-less crime.
definitely not. Legalize it now!
Isn't is a crime already?
Only when minors are involved or when someone is being held against their will. Or it's indentured servitude of any sort.
If you are a nasty whore. you shoulda be arrested! silly goses! protect yoursevles get off the street.
Yes, there are deffinatly other ways these women could be making money. If they were not sex workers, they are not likely to be subject to the abuse by the pimps and 'customers' nor would they face the overwhelmingly high risk of disease that they're facing by working the streets. There are other ways to make money, McDonalds' even, if it comes down to it.
