Does anyone agree with me that the United Nations should first have to prove they can successfully run a continent first before trying to run the entire world? Do you think (as I do) Antarctica would be a good testing ground for their attempt?

I like the concept but I think a continent may be too much. I'd say let them experiment with a county, a very small one. I vote for Tavalu.

Firstly, the UN is not a governing body, but simply a forum where countries get together and try to resolve their differences, and try to help solve the problems of today. Staying that, they should just disband the UN and come up with something that can enforce what they say (instead of relying on NATO, and mostly US troops to provide the backbone for major operations). The UN has been reduced to mediocre economic boycotts that are hardly effective because people just ignore them. The UN today has become the League Of Nations of the '30s, weak, ineffective, and a waste of time.

The UN is not trying to run the world, its attempting to bring nations together to solve the worlds biggest problems. And often it is very successful, in providing food, aid, healthcare, education, human rights..the UN does alot to improve the lives of people who need it. Im not saying its not flawed, in particular the fact that governments restrict its actions according to their personal and national agendas often means that the UN falls short acting as effecively and as quickly as it should. The UN needs to be held to account and encouraged to be more effective by us the peoples it was founded on behalf of. You might not think its great but it is our best hope for a better world- to see what we're doing to work toward a better UN see http://www.influxproject.org

Lol that don't do that bad considering it is arguable that they have prevented many many wars. In my opinion Antarctica would be a good place to test themselves out though lol
