  • Get drafted by a good college football team. That would be my guess.
  • DO NOT DO STEROIDS. Hit up a gym i would say, and get a good trainer; probably like a gym geared towards sports training. WOrk out, eat alot, and lovet he sport
  • Mudcat's advice about avoiding steroids is first and foremost. I'd also contact whoever is the high school coach where he will be playing and ask what he recommends in terms of training exercises. I'm thinking of Brian Urlacher of the Bears, who said he did a lot of sprinting because quickness in a linebacker is just as important as power. He said he never got too bulked up because it would interfere with his quick reactions and agility. You might also seek out an athletic trainer at a nearby university and ask for some advice. Make sure you research ways to avoid injury as well as to increase ability. Nutrition also plays a part. Your son could research some of these things on the net or at the library. Also, don't let your son drop off on schoolwork. As you are undoubtedly aware, careers in athletics can be over in 2 seconds and he needs something to fall back on.
  • His best chance is to get drafted out of college. Very few NFL players walk in off the street. He should focus on, of course, his playing skills, and getting in to a good football college. To do that, he should get good grades. Getting involved in local youth sports programs as an extra-curicular activity couldn't hurt. Hes going to have to want it more than the other 20,000 kids going into college, so teach him discipline and determination.
  • CHANCES OF GETTING IN: -First of all you do not get drafted out of middle school. -You need to be a standout in highschool first, then if you are good enough, you get recruited to play college football. -Only around 1% make it past highschool and less than 1% make division 1. -then you have to spend minimum of 3 years playing in college where only the best of the best go pro. -less than half a % of college football players go to the NFL so the chances are slim. EXPECTED: -to make college line backer you ideally need to be atleast 6'1" atleast 225 lbs, run a 4.89 sec 40 or better. need to lift over 300 lbs in bench over 400 squat and over 250 in clean to be competitive. -to make pro line backer you need to be around 6'3" or better, atleast 240 lbs, and run 4.75 or better. Bench atleast 400, squat around 600, clean around 350 to be competitive. KEEP IN MIND: -Keep in mind you have to be a complete standout to make it past highschool so focus on making it to a good college first. -STAY AWAY FROM STEROIDS ESPECIALLY AT A YOUNG AGE! it will stunt their growth and not permit them to grow to the right size. The best supplements to take are PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN!!! and eat healthy, dont go looking for the magic pill cause there isnt one. -College coaches look for speed and a frame, they want somone who will fly to the ball and has room to gain muscle. The will take a tall fast guy any day over a slower more built guy any day because the will put weight on when he gets in the program. GOOD LUCK, TAKE IT ONE DAY AT A TIME
