Does anybody here use an atlatl for hunting?

I would imagine it would be illegal to use as there are no laws written for it. It isn't a gun or a hunting bow. or a trap. It doesn't fall into any category allowed in the USA.

Many years ago (about 50 or more) a fellow wrote a book about hunting game animals around the world using many different types of weapons. He make his own bow and arrows and shot a deer. He made a blow gun and got his hands on some curare and shot a deer in Mexico. He tried a bola (look it up) and got a rabbit. He tried a spear but I don't know if he used an atlatl. He used a hawk and he ran a cheetah somebody gave him as a cub. Can't remember the name of the book but the idea was fascinating.
