  • To keep it simple, yes, the size of the living space and the amount of available food, determine how big your goldfish will be. They can get bigger, quicker in for example, a pond, than a small fishbowl. But there are other factors, like type of goldfish, or the family they come from, too. Some of the fancier ones will never get to be the size of comets or other plain, no frills goldfish. And if they come from a line of large goldfish they will really grow large and quick. Early care, as fry is really important to get them going good and great food, lots of it, too. Good clean water and no over-crowding is just as important.
