Freezing the film extends its storage life even further. I have used 10 year old frozen film with perfectly good results. Always wait long enough for the film to come up to room temperature naturally before you load it into the camera. Cold film can be quite stiff. Your results may vary, depending on the condition of the film when it was frozen and what type of film it is. The dyes in some colour films may change during long storage periods, even if the film is frozen.
